Research
The Department of Environmental Health aims to organically combine "industrial sites" and "universities and laboratories." In other words, we aim to solve problems at industrial sites in universities and laboratories, and apply the results to industrial sites. Based on this aim, we are actively conducting field research on chemical exposure assessment in the workplace.
In addition, we have been participating in the Ministry of the Environment, Japan "The Japan Environment and Children's Study (JECS)" since 2011, when the study first began. JECS is a large-scale epidemiological survey in which 100,000 pairs of children and their parents participate throughout Japan. From the time the babies are in their mothers' wombs until they reach the age of 40, their health status is regularly checked to determine how environmental factors affect their growth and development. The professor oversees the Regional Center for JECS, University of Occupational and Environmental Health. The staff of our department is also working actively every day on research to protect the health of children now and in the future.
